Sylvia Hunt Cooking – Reinvention of a classic
It was a pleasure to attend the launch of Sylvia Hunt’s Cooking – The reinvention of a classic recently held at Mille Fleurs .
Sylvia Hunt was the first rock star of local cooking.
During the 70’s and 80’s she created her own cooking dynasty comprising of her own television show on TTT – At Home with Sylvia Hunt and a trilogy of cookbooks. Her show aired every Monday evening at 6:30pm before Panorama. Those who know….know!
It was an evening filled with many nostalgic moments so eloquently illustrated by family members including her grandson Christopher Sambrano , her daughter Dianne Sambrano, guest speaker Franka Philip @real_trinifood and master of ceremonies Wendell Constantine .
Guests enjoyed dishes from her cookbook such as Sweet Potato and Saltfish Pie, Stuffed Chicken with Mango Chutney and Cassava Pie with Callaloo.
Her family has kept her memory and legacy alive with the relaunch of this iconic cookbook.
It is available at select bookstores in Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and Amazon
